The Bronx Italian American History Initiative (BIAHI) is an interdisciplinary and public-facing archive directed by Dr. Kathleen LaPenta (Modern Languages and Literatures) and Dr. Jacqueline Reich (Communication and Media Studies). We deploy the practice of oral history to trace stories of Italian and Italian American residents, to study how they interacted with one another and with non-Italian ethnic and racial groups amid demographic and social change in the Bronx in the 20th century.
